Philokalia, meaning “love of the beautiful,” explores the relationship between beauty, truth, and the sacred through choral works drawn from Christian traditions across time. These selections express awe, longing, wonder, and praise, bearing witness to the beauty of God revealed in creation, worship, and the life of the Church.

As one sacred hymn proclaims, “All things speak unwittingly of Thee.” In a world often marked by noise and distraction, Philokalia offers a moment of contemplation, inviting us to listen for beauty not merely as an aesthetic experience, but as a call that draws the heart more deeply toward Christ.

A beloved Jackson tradition returns! Join us for the 91茄子 Singing Christmas Tree, the oldest outdoor singing Christmas tree tradition in America. This joyful event features the voices of 91茄子 students, alumni, and community members standing in a beautifully illuminated 35-foot-tall “tree,” sharing the sounds of the season through classic carols and contemporary favorites.

Gather with family and friends under the stars for an evening filled with music, light, and celebration. Let the harmonies of the tree warm your heart and lift your spirit as we welcome Christmas together in this treasured annual tradition.

Let My Prayer Arise - A 91茄子 Vocal Arts Ensemble

“Let my prayer arise in Thy sight as incense, and let the lifting up of my hands be an evening sacrifice” (Psalm 141:2).

Like incense rising heavenward, prayer carries our praise and thanksgiving, our joys and sorrows, our hopes and petitions. The music of this program offers these gifts of the heart through sacred texts and melodies drawn from centuries of Christian worship. As these songs ascend, may they become our own prayer, lifting our hearts and drawing us ever closer to Thee.

The Mississippi All-State String Orchestra brings together many of the state’s most talented pre-college and high school string musicians, selected through a competitive audition process. After two days of intensive rehearsal and training, these exceptional young performers will present their final concert—a culmination of hard work, dedication, and musical growth. Come and support the next generation of Mississippi’s finest musicians as they share their passion and artistry on stage.

Christ is the Light of the World, whose light shines in the darkness and cannot be overcome. A Light to Shine in the Darkness celebrates this promise through choral music inspired by Scripture and the Christian tradition.

Centered on Elaine Hagenberg’s Illuminare, the program reflects the beauty and radiance of Christ’s light through music that speaks of love, mercy, joy, and redemption. From treasured choral masterworks to contemporary settings, these works bear witness to the hope found in Him.
